You might not think that 7:30 in the morning is an ideal time to hold a business meeting, but that never stops the tables from filling up on the third Thursday of each month for breakfast and a lively presentation at Country Meadows restaurant for the Elizabethtown Area Chamber Roundtable hosted by SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon.

These monthly Roundtables were launched in 2011 by SCORE mentor Ed England, and the current Chamber Executive Director Ramon Escudero. They formed the basis of a solid partnership that has grown strong over the years and now this SCORE Roundtable sets records for attendance and engagement in our Chapter.

Historically, the Chamber promoted participation in the Roundtable in the monthly member calendar of events and newsletter. More recently, under the leadership of Executive Director Heather Hohenwarter and Operations Manager Kelly Fuddy, the Chamber has more aggressively promoted the Roundtable as a key benefit for Chamber members.

The best part about the Elizabethtown Area Chamber Roundtable series is seeing how the members truly root for each other’s success. This delightful fact is in part organic to the warmth and inclusiveness of our business community, and in part due to the wise and encouraging leadership of Tom Burgum. You’ll often hear members listing the positive impact of advice heeded - from the effect of “Sprinkles” to a lively discussion on the pros and cons of social media.

The success of these Roundtable events goes well beyond the measure of attendance alone. The connections and referrals that are made each month are tangible evidence of the value of this early morning networking.

One particularly satisfying full-circle moment came recently as our Chamber was looking for a vendor for a video themed “Elizabethtown Rising.” I recalled meeting a friendly new business owner at an Elizabethtown Area Chamber Roundtable who specialized in drone videography and wanted to introduce himself to the group. Fast forward to a few months later, and Lake View Visual has produced the first ever Chamber of Commerce brand video which debuted at our Annual Celebration dinner in front of 250 guests - many of the business owners who will likewise be intrigued at the concept of drone videography."

SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon is proud of our partnership with the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce, and we look forward to seeing it flourish and grow into the future. We eagerly await every third Thursday for a trip to Country Meadows and a visit again with the thoroughly engaged group of business leaders that make up our Elizabethtown Area Chamber Roundtable.

SCORE Roundtables offer a combination of continuous learning, sharing best practices and lessons learned, and networking -- in a zone of trust and respect. Meetings are discussion-based, and members choose the topics. Members become a 'community' -- gathering to learn, share and enjoy. Currently, SCORE facilitates nine roundtables. Participation is free.
