Meet SCORE Mentor Jenny Murphy Shifflet. For the last 30 years, Jenny was the President/CEO of SARCC (Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center) of Lebanon and Schuylkill counties. She has the benefit of 37 years of experience working in nonprofits in Central Pennsylvania. These experiences have taught her everything from answering a crisis hotline, client advocacy, prevention education, public relations, trauma-focused counseling, to shoestring budgeting, human resources, strategic planning, and community outreach. Jenny has overseen a merger, a capital campaign and developed numerous programs during her career.
Now that Jenny has begun a well-deserved retirement she has turned to SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon to lend her time and talents as a volunteer mentor and to share the lessons and experiences of a long and successful career.
“SARCC utilized the expertise of SCORE to create a seamless transition plan that guided our succession plan to new leadership. This work involved the search and selection of my successor and allowed me to retire knowing that our mission was valued and respected. I was very impressed with my SCORE mentors (Kevin St. Cyr and Bob Hadfield) and I wanted to ‘pay it forward’ as part of my retirement goals.”
Jenny has already had the opportunity to work with one SCORE client and the session left an impression.
“I had a client experience, an ‘aha moment’ as we explored the barriers to her success. I love watching people grow and develop self-confidence which makes SCORE a perfect match for me.”
Jenny is eager to serve with co-mentoring opportunities. She is familiar with the following:
