Meet SCORE mentor Catherine Bonser. Cathy is an enterprising, strategically-driven, market-focused business leader with experience in marketing, sales, and manufacturing operations. Cathy had a very successful career with the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, NY. She joined Kodak after graduating from the University of Minnesota and held several positions at Kodak including assignments in Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Marketing. Her later career positions included Director of Global Manufacturing Strategy, GM, and Vice President of Global Manufacturing Services; Vice President and Director of Corporate Business Transformation: and Vice President / General Manager, Global Market Operations, Medical Imaging. Cathy most recently worked at Dentsply Sirona, York, PA, in global marketing and product management.
In addition to her career experience, Cathy holds BS degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an MBA, Marketing, and Management, from the Rochester Institute of Technology. She also completed the Strategic Marketing Executive Management Programs at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota and at the Wharton School of Management at the University of Pennsylvania.
Cathy moved to Lancaster when her husband took a position as a Professor of Chemistry at Millersville University. She enjoys travel, gardening, cooking and time with family. She is a scuba diver, casual golfer, and likes to pursue daring adventures like skydiving and hot air ballooning. She also has the time to share her talents as a volunteer and searched for the best local outlet that worked for her.
“Having recently retired from corporate life, I have always appreciated the good fortune I had throughout my career. I began to search for opportunities where I could share my experience in helping others. I was aware of SCORE, did some online research, read an article in the paper and was intrigued by the service SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon is providing the community, so I submitted an online request to learn more. Once connected, I really appreciated the insights and mentoring I received from my initial meeting with Ed Iovino and the support and guidance from my Mentor Jerry Glenn.”
Cathy has had some opportunities to co-mentor and to train with experienced SCORE volunteer mentors.
“During the onboarding process, I observed client meetings with Hugh McMaster, Jerry Glenn, and Eric Parker. I was intrigued by the variety of businesses serviced by the mentor team. The businesses ranged from non-profit, to for-profit, including products and services. These experiences helped me see that I can leverage my experience helping others explore and hopefully realize their dreams and aspirations.”
