SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon’s clients each have individual needs and challenges, but few are as rewarding for a mentor as Freiman Stoltzfus Gallery has been for SCORE mentor Jerry Glenn. He describes his over four years mentoring Freiman this way, “It has been an interesting relationship as Freiman represents the right side, and I support the left side of the brain. But it has been a true delight for me, working with a fine artist like Freiman Stoltzfus, and I have taught him to enjoy the art of P&L!”
In 2011, Freiman Stoltzfus Gallery opened along Gallery Row on Prince Street in Downtown Lancaster. Upon opening, owner and founder Freiman Stoltzfus struggled with the logistical and business-related side of the gallery. This prompted Stoltzfus to reach out to SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon, who was then paired with SCORE mentor, Jerry Glenn.
"This is very exciting for me. For the first time in my life I feel engaged as a businessman as well as an artist," says Stoltzfus. "Joining the left and right hemispheres has not been easy because I live primarily in my right brain, but with Jerry's help now I have a balance."
This client – mentor bond is especially important to the artist. Freiman's work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in Pennsylvania, New York, Switzerland, and France. His work is in private and corporate collections in the United States and abroad. But Freiman realized a few years ago that he needed help to organize the business side of the creative process.
“Jerry has transformed my business with the great gift of taming my fear of spreadsheets, numbers, and logistics. When I reached out to SCORE I felt overwhelmed by the pressure of running a business and creating my art. Now, with Jerry’s help, I approach it as a creative process, and if I give it enough water, air & sunshine, it will grow. This is an extraordinary gift for an artist to receive and I will be forever grateful to Jerry. He also helps me every year to set a budget and goals, which I follow very strictly, and step-by-step we reach the goals we have set.”

Stoltzfus and Glenn have been working together for 5 years to build a proper business plan that can grow with the gallery, "From where we started and where we are today, I would say it is light years, and the future looks extremely bright," says SCORE volunteer mentor, Jerry Glenn.
