Wanderlust by definition is a strong desire to travel. A longing to see the world, to discover new places and experience new cultures. SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon client Bouchra Fakier is hoping there will be many in Lancaster County struck by a sense of wanderlust that drives them to visit her beautiful Flavors of Morocco food stand in the newly opened Lancaster Marketplace at Hawthorne Center on Fruitville Pike.
Bouchra contacted SCORE in August 2017 for help in developing a business plan. She wanted to launch a Moroccan food and catering business that allowed Lancaster to discover the rich culinary culture of her country. Over the last 14 months Bouchra, and her mentor Eric Parker evaluated several ideas for establishing her business. The benefits of retail, catering, and a restaurant were thoroughly explored. The final incarnation of Flavors of Morocco is the ideal showcase for Bouchra to debut her culinary career.
Chef Bouchra Fakier masterfully blends the vibrant flavors of Morocco and India to bring an array of exotic specialties to Lancaster. Using fresh ingredients from local Lancaster farms and special spices imported from North Africa, organic saffron and extra virgin Moroccan olive oil, Bouchra re-creates the beloved dishes she grew up with in Morocco. Plan a visit to try her delicious Bastilla pie, elegant tagines with melt-in-your-mouth chicken or lamb, delicately spiced couscous, savory organic soups, as well as the beloved Moroccan pancake Beghrir and from India, savor delectable classics including Biryani, Karahi Chicken, Goat and Lamb, Samosas, Rasmalai, Mango Lassi. There is also a wide variety of sweets & teas.
“Bouchra was looking at several alternatives to launch her Moroccan food and catering business. Over the past year, she evaluated just catering or providing retail products via a food truck or opening a restaurant. The new Lancaster Marketplace on Fruitville Pike was the perfect solution to bring this remarkable cuisine, culture and related products to the community.”
